10 intriguing Black Friday tablet deals

If you still haven't jumped on the tablet bandwagon, Black Friday might be a good time to do so. Here are the best deals we found for tablets of all sorts and sizes.

A tablet for everyone this Black Friday

Whether you’re looking for the latest and greatest, or just for a budget tablet, there’s a deal for everyone this Black Friday.

As usual, you’ll get marginal deals on iPads, but retailers selling them are throwing in store cards as extras that you can use for other gifts.

Microsoft wants to get rid of its old Surface RT inventory, so you can bag a good deal there, and we found three tablets deals under $100 if you need to stay on a budget.

Let’s start with the Microsoft Surface RT.

Microsoft: Surface RT 32GB, $199 (reg. $349)

Specs: A 10.6-inch display with a resolution of 1366 by 768 pixels, 32GB of storage, a quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor, 2GB of RAM, and two 720p HD cameras, front- and rear-facing.

With the Surface 2 out now, Microsoft has discounted the original Surface RT tablet to $199 from 11/28 to 12/2 at its stores and online (with free shipping).

Best Buy is running a similar offer in its stores, while Walmart will sell the 64GB Surface with a black Touch Cover for $249 in its stores.

Remember, Windows RT is not the full Windows 8, so you will be limited to Windows Store apps and won’t be able to run regular Windows software.

Target: iPad Air Wi-Fi 16GB, $379 after discount (reg. $499)

Specs: A 9.7-inch display with a resolution of 2048 by 1536 pixels, a 720p front camera, a 1080p HD/5MP rear camera, an A7 64-bit processor, and an estimated 10 hours of battery life.

Apple doesn’t allow retailers to give large discounts on its products, so Target is offering a $20 discount to buyers of the 16GB Wi-Fi iPad Air in stores, along with a $100 Target gift card that you can use on other products.

Staples and Best Buy offer $50 discounts for this tablet in their stores.

Walmart has the best deal on the original iPad Mini as it will throw in a $100 gift card with a $299 purchase of the tablet in stores.

Alternatively, Target throws in a $75 gift card when the tablet is purchased in stores, and Staples has a deal for the original iPad Mini that is good in both its stores and online—a $50 upfront discount.

Specs: A 10-inch display with a resolution of 1366 by 768 pixels, a 1.3GHz Intel Atom quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, an estimated 11 hours of run time battery, and Windows 8.

It's not exactly the sleekest design, and the cramped keyboard leaves something to be desired but, at $299, this tablet is a decent bargain.

Dell: Venue 8 Pro Tablet, $300 (reg. $350)

Specs: An 8-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1280 by 800 pixels, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, an Intel Atom 1.8GHz quad-core processor, and Windows 8.1.

Dell's doorbuster deal includes a folio case and one-year of accidental damage service. The deal is available from 6 p.m. EST Thursday and continues all day Friday.

Target: Barnes and Noble Nook HD, $79 (reg. $129)

Specs: A 7-inch display with a resolution of 1440 by 900 pixels, 8GB of storage, a microSD slot, an estimated up to 9 hours of video battery life, and Google Play support.

Target is discounting the Nook HD by $50 in stores from 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving night–while supplies last. The Nook HD has solid hardware and a high-res screen, and now it also supports Google Play apps, so it’s no longer just a tablet tied to the B&N store and ecosystem.

Walmart: HP 7 8GB Android tablet, $89

Specs: A 7-inch display with a resolution of 1024 by 600 pixels, a 1.6GHz Intel Atom single-core processor, 1GB of RAM, a front VGA camera, an estimated five hours of run time battery, and Android 4.1.

HP and Intel worked with Walmart to have this exclusive Intel-powered 7-inch Android tablet in stores and online for Black Friday only.

At $89, the specs and screen resolution cannot be stellar, and it probably is best suited for web browsing and checking email rather than involvement with demanding games and apps.
